Bertha's Go Go Ribs owner, Mervin Sweeting shares his Story after 21 years
In a candid interview, Mr. Sweeting will tell his story in his own words as he reflects on the business he started from the ground up 21 years ago, which has today grown to include three major locations in New Providence. Mr. Sweeting, who is originally from Eleuthera will tell viewers how it all started, simply from his love for mouth-watering and tasty Bahamian meals, how the establishment got its name, and who is the real ‘Bertha’, the secret behind Bertha’s Go Go Ribs Sauce, his personal challenges, and triumphs over the years. Also viewers will hear how much pounds of ribs the establishment uses in one week and Mr. Sweeting’s plans for future expansion. Mr. Sweeting gave this advice to businesspersons and entrepreneurs, “You have to ensure that your product is of the highest quality and standard…You must push your product if you really want to make it happen…It calls for dedication and hard work.” Visionaries will also introduce Mr. Sweeting’s son, Mervin Jr., who like his father has also started an enterprising business of his own by manufacturing a Bahamian old time favorite beverage. The younger Sweeting, a participant of the government’s Self Starters Entrepreneurial Program was recently lauded in Parliament by the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, The Hon. T. Desmond Bannister.
